Curios City

I'm a fan of printed paper and curiousities.
So it was inevitable that Hollywood Rd. would pull me like a magnet.

Wish I Could Live in this Block

Today

East Tsim Sha Tsui

Transported Back to Frascatti

I have fond memories of this small restaurant called Il Pergola in Frascatti , Rome where the cheese are freshly rolled into a ball and wine comes from a family owned vineyard with not even the slightest label or age marker. Where bottles of limoncello hang randomly on the awnings and where an accordion player barges in for a song. And I haven't even started talking about food. Homemade gnocchi with fresh ground peppercorns and an entree of veal with some kind of magic sauce.

At Danielle's Casa Mia, it was like Frascatti all over again. Minus the accordion player.

Let's Have Cake

On my birthday, after lunch, Jon insisted we have cake. We stumbled upon this small bakery along Magallanes that sold really lovely cakes. I mean really beautiful cakes - the kind that won competitions. The bakery is called Park Avenue Desserts. Reading the magazine articles framed on the wall,  I learned it's owned by Chef Buddy Trinidad and true enough his cakes have won gold.

Thanks for the treat Bi! I had a lovely birthday. Just as I want - nice and simple.
