Slow-cooked Inspiration

Easily, I can spend hours here.

ACO (Arts & Culture Outreach) Books is a diamond in the rough that I stumbled upon coming out of a real estate agent's office along Hennessy Road.
I have been constantly on the look out for creative spaces in nondescript streets here and I'm happy to have found this book store cum tea and snack place.
Had a lovely chat with shop manager Kobe too. Looking forward to film screenings and exhibitions here in the future.

Two Girls

It was rummaging through vintage advertising posters at Sanlitun in Beijing last 2008 that I first saw prints of these 2 Chinese girls wearing intricate dresses presenting beauty products. It was nostalgic assuming that the posters must've been printed in the early 1900s when China was at the mercy of the Opium War. I bought one and never got the chance to frame it. The brand is literally called Two Girls.

The other day, I saw these 2 girls again, on a vendo machine in Silvercord mall. I thought what genius! A fine example of how brands can carry on promoting products in this day and age. I got myself a tube of hand cream and a bunch of postcards.

One Stitch at a Time

I first heard about Yarn Bombing thru our new found friend and joy guru Ingrid Fetell and I cannot get enough of them since!

It's a stealth movement from across cities that gives joy to urban dwellers and city landscapes by covering or wrapping mundane, everyday objects in yarn. They do it small scale like putting leg warmers on park statues to big structures like yarn graffiti on buildings.

Believed to have originated in the U.S. with Texas knitters trying to find a creative way to use their leftover and unfinished knitting projects.

These works range from cute to simply incredible.

Tsumori Chisato

My current fixation is Tsumori Chisato.Saw her shop in Paris but didn't have much time to browse the racks.
I'm happy there are 3 shops here Hong Kong! Available also in IT stores!
I love her handmade prints, non-traditional cuts and finishing.
I don't usually wear a lot of prints but aren't they the darnedest things!

Ellerman on Tung St.

Ellerman is primarily a flower shop but they also sell the sweetest objects. I love shops like these that are tucked away off busy streets.
